Industrial water treatment is very broad in scope, but all have something in common, they must contend with contaminants. BioLargo’s technology provides some unique, continuous handling and cost effective solutions. An immediate focus is process systems, which require continuous monitoring and adjustment such as heat exchange water. Standard processing commonly uses filters to remove airborne particulate matter and other contaminants as well as chemicals to reduce scale and prevent bio-growth. BioLargo can trim chemical consumption, lengthen filter life, slash common corrosion issues and reduce the incidence of dangerous byproducts like trihalomethanes (THM) that are common with chemicals such as chlorine. Dow Chemical estimates the current industrial water treatment market at beyond $64 billion per year.
BioLargo added two key team members to help develop its commercial strategy; Vikram Rao, former Chief Technical Officer of Halliburton and Chairman of the Research Triangle Energy Consortium and Harry DeLonge, former International Vice President of Science for PepsiCo and top honoree by the American Water Works Association & International Society of Beverage Technologists.
